We often want to break away from our families, but what happens when they leave us? In Earth Camp One, filmmaker Jennie Livingston tells the story of losing five family members in a decade. Through first-person storytelling, humor, and reflection, Livingston explores queer identity, becoming an artist, and how loss and time transform us.

Jennie Livingston - Director, Producer
Jennie Livingston’s film Paris is Burning won a Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize in 1991; was included in the Film Registry at the Library of Congress in 2016; and in 2022, NY Times critic A.O. Scott named it one of the ten best films of all time. Other films include the shorts Hotheads (1996); Through the Ice (2005); and Who’s the Top? (2005), a musical sex comedy starring Marin Hinkle, Steve Buscemi, and 24 dancers, which The LA Times called “witty and accomplished.” Jennie created a video for Elton John’s live show (2011-2018) and was an early consultant, consulting producer, and director on the FX series Pose (2015-2020). Earth Camp One is their second nonfiction feature and will be completed in 2024. Jennie is developing fiction scripts and series: currently in progress are Prenzlauer Berg, Little Kings, and The Hotness.
