Liz Diller: Making Space for the Future

Brittany Huckabee is an independent filmmaker with more than two decades of experience directing and producing feature-length documentaries that have shown on outlets including PBS, Netflix, and Showtime and screened at top international film festivals including Sundance and Tribeca, garnering three Emmy nominations. Her most recent independent film, How to Fix a Primary (2020), highlights the system of power and money in American politics today. Other directing and/or producing credits include After Fire (2016), which documents the challenges facing women veterans; Hot Girls Wanted (2015), an inside look at the ‘amateur’ pornography industry; Sexy Baby (2012), which surveys the cyber age’s new sexual landscape; and The Mosque in Morgantown (2009), an observational chronicle of a controversy over women’s participation in a West Virginia Mosque. She has served as a Filmmaker-in-Residence at WGBH-Boston and is the principal of Version One Productions, a production company based in New York City.

Jeff Bieber’s films and social impact campaigns have helped cast a new lens on U.S. history through The Jewish Americans (6-hours, 2008), Latino Americans (6-hours, 2013), Italian Americans (4-hours, 2015), The Pilgrims (2-hours, 2015), and Asian Americans (5-hours, 2020). His work has garnered four EMMY Awards, a duPont-Columbia Award, and three Peabody Awards. Jeff executive produced special coverage of the attacks on 9/11 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for PBS; Washington Week during the Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden presidencies; Avoiding Armageddon (2003), an 8-hour series on weapons of mass destruction; America at a Crossroads (2007), a 12-hour series on America’s role in a post 9/11 world; and Korea: The Never-Ending War (2019). Jeff was a producer for A Capitol Fourth, The National Memorial Day Concert, and the 1994 Salute to Slava, honoring Mstislav Rostropovich.
