I Want To Tell My Story

Tomer Heymann is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose career spans nearly three decades. Internationally recognized for intimate, character-driven films that unfold over years of close observation, his work explores identity, family, love, memory, and social change. His films have premiered and won awards at major festivals including Berlinale, IDFA, Hot Docs, and SXSW, and have been released theatrically around the world. His acclaimed documentary Mr. Gaga: A True Story of Love and Dance (2015) streamed on Netflix, was shortlisted for the European Film Awards, released theatrically in 17 countries, and became the most-viewed Israeli documentary in the country’s history. His other films include Paper Dolls, Bridge Over the Wadi, I Shot My Love, Who’s Gonna Love Me Now?, Jonathan Agassi Saved My Life, and I Am Not. His latest documentary, Orna and Ella (2025), premiered at Docaviv and was selected for the New York Jewish Film Festival.

Leigh Heiman has been Head of Production at Heymann Brothers Films since 2021. In 2026, he produced and co-wrote I Want to Tell My Story, which premiered at the Haifa International Film Festival and won the Jury Award for Best Documentary Film. That same year, he was selected for Docaviv Festival’s 20 Under 40 list, recognizing emerging filmmakers shaping the future of documentary cinema. His other producing credits include Orna and Ella and Ilana Goor – A Woman Against the Wind. Heiman’s feature-length directorial debut is currently in production.

Nancy Spielberg grew up immersed in filmmaking, working on her brother’s early films as cast and crew. She attended Arizona State University and UCLA and, after moving to New York in 1978, studied film at Sarah Lawrence College and the New School. An accomplished businesswoman and philanthropist, she has turned her talents to producing documentary and feature films. She served as a consultant on the Oscar-winning documentary Chernobyl Heart (2003) and as executive producer of Elusive Justice: The Search for Nazi War Criminals (2011). She produced Above and Beyond (2014), winner of audience awards at more than twenty film festivals, and executive produced Mimi and Dona (2014) and Who Will Write Our History (2018). Her executive producer credits also include Dani Menkin’s On the Map (2016), Picture of His Life (2019), and Aulcie (2020), as well as Laura Bialis’ Vishniac (2023). She produced Tal Inbar’s Closed Circuit (2022) and co-produced Tom Shoval’s documentary A Letter to David (2025).
