Jacob Tschernia

Jacob Tschernia - Director

Jacob Tschernia (Director and Cinematographer) has directed an award-winning fiction short. He was selected for the Cannes Film Festival residency in 2004 and attended Columbia University’s MFA film program in 2006. Since, he has been working as an editor in most genres in television and film and directed commercials. A State of Emergency is his first work as a documentary film director.

Tomer Slutzsky

Tomer Slutzsky - Co-Director

Tomer Slutzsky (Co-director and Cinematographer) holds a BA in Philosophy and Film theory from Tel Aviv University. He has worked both as an editor and a cinematographer on a number of documentary projects with notable Israeli directors (Barak and Tomer Heymann, Itamar Rose, Noam Pinchas and Tal Barda) that have been distributed internationally. He is currently co-directing Jews by Choice and Bronca! with his father Shlomo Slutzky. On A State of Emergency he has also done most of the cinematography.

Kirstine Barfod

Kirstine Barfod - Producer

Kirstine Barfod received an Emmy, a Peabody, a Cinema Eye award for Outstanding Achievement in Production, and a 2020 Academy Award nomination for producing The Cave, directed by Oscar-nominated director Feras Fayyad (Last Men in Aleppo). She has produced and co-produced a dozen feature documentaries, documentary series, including Ibrahim, The Magic Life of V, and Reunited. She has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 2019. Kirstine is permanently based in NYC, USA.
